Simple Ways We Can Give To Others 365 Days A Year.

#2blog 579 (1) to be finished brwn eyes

The holiday season is such a wonderful time. Spending time with family and friends and giving to others.   Another great thing about the holiday season, it prompts us to want to give even more.   But the reason for giving and the need for everyone’s help doesn’t begin and end with the holiday season.   Now that the holiday season is over…..

I wanted to make a list of ways that make it as EASY as possible to help.  Simple things that we all can do everyday of the year,  and even do locally!.

The Salvation Army

You will most likely have more than one local Salvation Army Center wherever you live.  I do, most likely most of us do.  Making it a lot easier for all of us to help out.  You can donate clothing, toys, food, furniture, household goods and actually so much more, or even easier for everyone, you just make a donation, right on the site.

Check the link here to find out exactly where the location to the nearest Salvation Army is to you and how the best way for you to help might be!.

Check below for all the info. you will need!

A Food Pantry

We have a local food pantry where I live and like the Salvation Army, I am sure you probably have one too.  Your local Food Pantry will collect and distribute food to those in needs in your immediate area.

You can find your local food Pantry by simply typing into Google  “Where is the local food pantry in”,   (then type in your local towns name and your state).

You will have a few answers pop up for you.  If you call one, they can tell you were a local drop off point will be for you.  We have a few I know of, so you might have seen one around your town already that you can drop something off at.

There are guidelines though, if you haven’t done this before. (what food items are most needed and what they would rather you bring (non perishable items)

Just give a call, ask and you should have no problems!.

Volunteer In Your Community

This probably comes to mind when you first think about serving others and it’s a classic example of course.  There are many ways to do this through programs, organizations, clubs, groups, community associations and any other activities in your community.  There are often websites as well as directories for connecting volunteers and making the best placement for you.  Do some checking for them around your community and Google, again, is a great tool for information.

A lot of the time you don’t even have to look far to be of help to others.

Elderly neighbors, family or people you know whenever you can.   You could offer to walk their dogs, bring them meals/baked goods, run errands, pick up extra groceries, take their trash cans/bins to the curb and back, check up on them, bring in their mail or their newspaper.

Just doing these everyday things we see as little, easy and simple, could mean so much to those who might have a difficult time doing them.. by themselves.

Finally, just give more of yourself.  You might not think you can accomplish very much.  The fact is each one of us give so much everyday to just those in our everyday lives.  A smile, a hug, just to have someone, listen.

If you doubt it, think about those you love, your friends and family.  Right now, just think what they give you, everyday.  See.  I have a feeling you, to them, are thought of with the same appreciation, respect and love.

So never doubt how much even the tiniest thing, you do for someone will make a difference.   Each day is another chance to give of yourself.  Give everything you can, to as many as you can.  As much a you can.

You will get back so much more than you ever thought possible.

Thanks for coming to the blog! I really do appreciate it so very much when you take time out of your day to read my latest or past posts. I truly am appreciative for all the support!. Hey, don’t forget to leave a comment and let me know what you think of the post!.

Resolutions, For… And From The Heart.

#3New_Year_Resolution_San_Diego_Self_Storage

Blog--me cut from google 32.jpg #2

New Year’s Resolutions….

While there will be tons of resolutions made this year,  big and small.

I thought of a few, we can all definitely handle,  without being stressed.

1.  Give A Little More —

This, no matter how much we do, we can always do more of.

Give.

Giving is one thing you will always be glad you did and never get tired of doing.  If you do, then be glad in it, it will be a “good tired”,  and if we are, I think then we’re probably on the right track!.

To give of your time, of yourself,  is one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. You never know just how much what you will do will affect another person. Never think or feel it’s not worth it, or you can’t make a difference, or  “why bother, I can’t make a difference.”  That will never be true.  You can make more of a difference than you think, and when you do give,  you will always get so much more,  in return.  I believe it will always come back to you.

So, this upcoming year, we all will be blessed if we can be able to give.

Give, even more.

2.   Take More Time To Spend With Loved Ones. —

We rush around so much today.  I do it too.  We all do.  We get so busy everyday and we can tend to forget to spend time with those we love and care about or we just get so busy that there never seems to be enough time in the day.

They are each a gift, the people in out lives, and they should know and feel that.  If you appreciate someone,  always let them know.

If you love someone, always let them know.  Family and friends are one of life’s greatest blessing’s.  Where would you be without them?

Taking time to spend with them whether it’s going to a movie, shopping or simply sitting and watching a tv show with them, is important.   It doesn’t matter what you do,  just that you “take the time” to do it.  Your family and friends are precious and “time”  moves so fast.   So for you….. and for them,  make a point in the upcoming year to….

Take that time.

5.  Be Kinder–

This one is an easy one.  We can all try to be more kind.   No matter how much we do, there always is more we could be doing.  There are so many to whom the smallest of kindness’ means so much.

You never know what you’re smile or that pat on the back can mean to someone.  A simple kindness that you give can mean the world and it costs nothing to give…

but it is worth so much.  Making an effort to be more kind, will never be time wasted. We’re, I believe, here to watch out for, and take care on one another.  So like you, I hope to in the upcoming year, try to…

Be even more kind

6.  Listen, More.–

Sometimes, all someone really needs, is to be heard.  It can be the greatest thing in the world to have that.  It can be the greatest thing in the world to give that,  as well.

Think of a time you really needed someone tohear” you.  Maybe you had something you needed advice on, or maybe there was a time when there wasn’t someone there and you really needed someone at moment.  Maybe you had something on your heart and mind that was bothering you.  Can you imagine how you would have felt,  if there was someone there at that moment?  Would have made all the difference right?

Be the listener you hope to find, and when you need someone,  I bet you won’t have to look far, the next time you do.

So this upcoming year,  I think one of the most important giving things we can do is..

Be a better listener

7.   Take Better Care Of Yourself

If you take the time to take care of yourself, it doesn’t just benefit you, but those who love you, as well.  Your family and friends need you. You’re important too. Where would they be without you?     Really.   Hey, just ask them!.

Just as you are always making sure those you love are all happy and healthy,  you need to take the time to make your life happy and healthy too.  If you’re not happy, not feeling good,  in mind , heart or spirit,  it will spill over into everything in your life and even into all of your relationships.  If you do , and I know it can be tough to find time,  but if we do take better care of ourselves it will positively affect everyone and everything else around you.

(There is a saying I absolutely love. Reminds me of my Mom.  I bought it because of that and it sits on a table in our living room.)

Blog001

This saying goes for you too!.   So remember this.  It’s the truth.

So in the upcoming year, I hope you….

Take more care of you too.

8.  Eat Healthier

I’m not saying you have to become a vegan or drop kick every goodie in your diet out the window.  Just make a couple small changes   Take baby steps.  Change from regular soda to diet, or drink more water.  Hey, I didn’t start out a gymgirl ya’ know.  I was into baking and loving it.

Just one day, I started to really care, more. I had always tried, so I didn’t make a big thing of it, I told everyone “just ignore it please”.   Really!  LOL!  Because whenever anyone made a big deal of it, it was the death of it.  Don’t laugh! LOL!.   My brother Mike  said the same thing.  I have no idea guys… it just is that way.  I think you get nervous (people watching you, expecting to see HUGE changes right away)  Who knows.. lol

Anyway,   I started making little changes.  Using less sugar in baking, or just making things I liked just a little healthier in other ways, or cutting back a little for instance.

It grew from there!

You don’t have to join a gym tomorrow.  But just start somewhere.  Take a baby step and soon …you’ll find yourself sprinting!   But it starts, with taking even that tiny step.

Trust me.  I know you can! .

This one I can tell you is true. After My Mom I started taking care of me for the first time in years. I started eating right, working out lost 130 lbs. and met new friends and started a new life.  Just give it a try. little by little , you’ll get there.

So this year, just give it a try…

Eat a little healthier

(If you like, you can checkout my health blog   “A Work In Progress” –  The 7 things you will need to make a New Years resolution of getting in shape, a success!!!  )

9. Exercise More

Like I said start out small if that’s easier for you.  Start taking the stairs once in a while instead of the elevator.  Take a walk in the evening’s.   It will affect everything thing in your life in a positive way.  If you just take that first step.  No pun intended, you can accomplish anything.  This year,  give that to yourself .  A healthier you.

So, I hope this year, you find more time to take care of someone very important.  You. And….

Exercise More often

(with any exercise, especially if you are new to it,  it is always smart to check with your doctor first. )

10. Smile More

Sounds maybe a little hokey?.  Nope.  Think about it.  When you see people smile or hear them laugh.  Don’t you want to , doesn’t it make you feel a little lighter yourself?, and because sometimes, that’s all you can do,  or give to someone and  it may mean everything for them that day.  You never know what a simple smile can do for someone. Lift a spirit, lift a soul.  Maybe even your own as well.  Just a simple smile.

So this upcoming year…. I hope you join me in ….

smiling more

Wrap Up

I now whatever goals or resolutions you choose you can handle them and conquer them!. These are just a few we can all handle pretty easy and they, I believe,  are really,  some of the best decisions you can make this year.

Whatever you choose, I wish every single one of you a very Merry Christmas , I know everyone doesn’t celebrate Christmas , so,i wish for you the best of whatever holiday you do celebrate!!!  I also would like to take the time to wish you a very happy and healthy New Year!.

I also want to say thank you for taking the time over the past year to come to this blog.

I am so grateful.  :)     Thank you!!.   three-red-hearts-clipart

The Comment I’m Always, Surprised To Hear.

#4BeingNiceBlogGrahpic

Okay this may sound odd, but I’ve been hearing it more and more lately, and finding, it’s not just me.

The first time I heard this comment, was maybe almost a year ago.  I was in a group of people,  saying “hi” to some friends, catching up, asking how they were doing, and getting to know some new people as well.

I was asking how everyone was doing,  how their day was,  you know,  the normal stuff.
After being there a while, someone made a comment to me, actually, asked me  why,

I was being “so nice” to everyone.

I didn’t know what to say to that.  I think I just said something like I was just trying to be nice and make everyone feel comfortable and that I was, also happy, to be there and see and meet everyone.

I mean, how do you answer that?.    “Why are you being so nice?”

A friend of mine,  there with me at the time, I think felt my confusion and they said to me:

“I think Colleen, it’s that it’s unusual, because it’s just that rare, today.”

All I could come up with to reply was.... “Oh , OK…. thanks.”

But I was REALLY thinking   …..Huh?!?

What ?, excuse me ?! I must have had this look! .

What ?, excuse me ?!
I must have had this look! .

What Did I Miss?

So when did this happen !?  When did it become a …… “rarity”

I mean, I have been complimented on being “nice” before, and been lucky enough to have people refer to me as , “a good person” now and then.    Which has always been a wonderful thing to hear.  I mean, that’s so great!!.

But this comment….. surprised and confused me.

A conversation with a Friend

Like I said, I was a little taken aback by the comment.  So, I thought I would talk to a good friend about it.

She is one of the kindest and nicest people you will ever hope to meet.

When I told her what had happened,  She said ” Yes!, I know what you mean!.”

She told me she had actually been having the same thing happen to her lately too.  I was thinking, “What?, really?!”

She began to tell me how others have been commenting to her as well and asking her about why SHE,  is so nice to everyone .

We laughed at the fact we both had been experiencing this and at the same time.   We were both a little confused about why this seemed to be happening lately, though.  We talked about it and we both felt weren’t doing anything different from we’ve been doing all our lives,  really.   I mean, not doing anything really out of the ordinary.  We were just so surprised to hear this.

///////////////////////////////

It Got Me Thinking

After I spoke to my friend, I started to think about what I was doing, how I treat others. What was the person, who commented, seeing and hearing?.

I didn’t think so, but maybe I was doing something different.

I thought to myself, I do all the little things.

I open the door for people,  I say “God bless you” when someone sneezes, I like to help anyone I can, with anything I can.  I say “yes Sir” ,  “No  Sir” , “Yes Ma’am,”  No Ma’am” , “please”  and  “Thank You” , No Thank You.”     I like to say “Have a great day!” to everyone,  hoping that just maybe it could make a difference,  in how they are feeling about or how they may see the rest of their day. Just the normal everyday things.

I also thought about who I am as a person.

God and my family have always been the most important things to me.  They have always been the foundation of my life.  They are wonderful blessings and something that has always given me strength, hope and always, faith.   They have helped me find,  and mold me into the person, daughter,  sister,  friend etc. that I hope,  I am today.

For this,  I am truly grateful.

                   Me.

That being said, after thinking it all over, I still didn’t get it. I don’t now really, because  that’s just normal stuff everyone does everyday.  I don’t feel I’m doing anything out of the ordinary,  and so many do so much more than I do , everyday.

The Wind Up

Being questioned on this has not been a bad thing at all.  It’s truly a wonderful compliment I’m thankful for!.  It got me thinking about what I do, in how I treat others in life, who I am. What others are seeing and hearing.  It also made me feel great,  and I realized maybe I’m not doing too bad, that Mom would be proud.

I think we are here to help and care for one another.  To uplift and lend a hand whenever, wherever we can.  To give of ourselves, to care and be kind to one another.   It also reminded me no matter what we do,  we can always do more.

.

In the end, this is NOT really about me at all, or who I am,  or what I do.

No….not at all.

I think it’s really just about the 2 questions it leaves you with:

Why is being maybe little nicer or kinder,  than is expected of us,  possibly becoming  a “rarity” ?    And not just, what is.

And the second question:    If so, what are we going to do about that ?.

Hey, thanks for coming to the blog!  I appreciate it so much when you take time out of your day to read my latest or past posts.  I truly am appreciative for all the support!.  Hey, don’t forget to leave a comment and let me know what you think of the post!.

And…….Relax…

MyStarbucks #2

Welcome! I'm Colleen Kelly. Your blogger! .

Welcome! I’m Colleen Kelly. Your blogger! .

I realize some of you out there actually don’t go to… or have even stepped foot inside a Starbucks.

Really ?!        I love it.

Going to a Starbuck’s is not just getting a coffee.

It’s an experience.

Starbucks #3

I know that may sound kind of silly..

But I bet…if you visit a Starbucks…….. you will “get it”.

As soon as you walk in,  you’re hit right away with the atmosphere…the lighting, the  music, the people, you smell the coffee,  you hear the conversations, see people relaxing, working on their laptops,  some are grabbing a quick bite to eat.  Most everyone looks cheerful, comfortable, relaxed and enjoying themselves while there… and you feel that.

I think that’s the quality about the place I’m talking about .  It’s this feeling of being comfortable and that you’re treating yourself to a few moments of peace, enjoyment.

Part of that process is  “ordering” that drink.

We all need to take the time to "Recharge".

We all need to take the time to “Recharge”.

The Moment Of Truth

Ordering…..a Starbuck’s coffee …

Now, I have to laugh because for me,  it was a learning process. Try and fail over and over until…..you finally get that order right!.

I know, it sound cooky.  But it really IS a process of trial and error until you get the hang of it.  Part of the fun of it for me was trying over and over getting closer each time to finally ordering what I wanted correctly.  I always ended up laughing at myself.

Sounds strange? how hard is it to order a coffee right ? lol

Well, if you go to Starbucks,  or for that matter anywhere LIKE Starbucks,  you know that the list of ingredients when you order, can be looooooooooooong.

For Instance:

One of my order’s would go like this:

“Hi, I would like a  Grande’ size…..  Skinny Mocha…..with sugar – free caramel….with salt on top…and extra foam.”

Now reading that here,  may not sound like much, and easy to say,  but it honestly takes time to get that order “down”…

It’s all in fun and most everyone while waiting is looking at a newspaper or at the pastry window,  (the sandwiches, bagged goods and other pre- ready drinks available.)

So there really isn’t ever really any problem with anyone about waiting a couple mins.  They seem to be enjoying that moment too. 🙂

You can take the time waiting in line to scan over the entire drink menu in front of you, above your head,  and weigh out the flavors ..

for me, it’s all about the calories.

As much as I love Starbucks, the various coffee drinks CAN be… very high in calorie.

(They do have however, what are called “Skinny” drinks now available for us:

Here btw, is the updated menu for Starbucks so you can take a look!:

http://www.starbucks.com/menu/nutrition/20-under-200  )

(It updated all the time and you can see the newest information there on all their drinks and foods..)

That Starbucks Hospitality

Now this I  think is so cool…

The Starbucks people really work at remembering who you are and remembering your order,  so when you come in , not like it’s “Cheers” and the all yell out “Colleeeeeeeen!!!!!!!!!”    when I walk through the door…

( like the did for Norm the character on the 80’s hit show “Cheers”.)

As you can what I mean if you click on the link below  :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPqPAKqzx7M

No, not exactly like that.. lol

starbucks_barista_cup_hand_1807_250

Burt making a point of doing that, remembering your order and your name for you, which I think is one of the little things that make it so cool …. It  gives you a sense of being welcome and appreciated.   I thought about it. It makes me feel really good!.  For me,  Starbucks can be a timeout.

Winding It Up

You know that few minutes, that moment in your day where you take that deep breath…..let it out slow……. and feel  ………quiet..

I think it’s something we all need in each day to center ourselves and just

slow……….down…….

We all need that moment  I think , everyday, where you stop… and feel…. relaxed, calm and maybe even …. “lighter”.

A few minutes .

Where you forget the day, your  crazy schedule, and just relax… for a moment..

You need those little moments to  “recharge”  and to “reboot” ..…so to speak.

Think about what does that for you.

It can be a friend who makes you laugh or maybe watching a movie that always makes you smile….something that renews that feeling of hope.

Whatever in your life “lifts” you up, gives you hope, makes you smile,  take the time each day to experience that…. and  feel quiet.”

You know when you have,  it feels good.  It can center you again, adjust the day, your mood and like I said, makes you feel ..…lighter.

I wanted this post to be a reminder, that you should take that moment each day.. to do just that.

Feel “quiet”

To be a reminder to not forget “you”..… in the midst of your busy day.

To feel “quiet”

Yes I said it again.  just even saying it can feel good.  Don’t forget today to give yourself that moment.   We all need to reconnect and Recharge and Reboot.

Give that to yourself.

Next time I’m in Starbucks, in line, looking around,  the smell of fresh coffee wafting past me, listening to the music and deciding on what my order that day will be,

I will also……….. be wondering ……….what your day’s recharge will be!.

3 Movies… Sure To Inspire!.

movie blog post pic

Hi, I'm Colleen Kelly. Your resident blogger. Welcome to the blog!. :)

Hi, I’m Colleen Kelly. Your resident blogger. Welcome to the blog!.🙂

Movies can be amazing.!

They can bring out all kinds of emotion in us.  The can make us happy, sad, laugh, cry, scare us too!…… and in the case of Colleen and this post…

Feel….. Inspired.

A great movie can have a profound effect on us.

A great movie can have a profound effect on us.

I saw two movies over this past weekend, two I had seen before and the third, was a sequel to one I had seen a while ago..  They are different, yet the same in a lot of ways.

One thing they all share is they all made me feel re- energized in motivation and inspiration.

So I thought.

Don’t we ALL need to feel that from time to time?

So I want to share a few of my picks for movies that have inspired me and have even motivated me to fight harder.

movie #6

#1.   “We Are Marshall

(Starring Matthew Mc Conaughey, Matthew Fox, David Stratharin, Kate Mara.)

This is a movie about a College Football team from Marshall University in Ohio. Flying from a game they had just played in Greenville North Carolina  on their way back home to Huntington west Virginia , Their plane crashed.  Losing every single member on board.  The team, coaches, everyone.

Before you think you would never want to see this because it sounds beyond comprehension and like something you would not enjoy. please watch the clip.  yes this a movie about a horrible Moment in Marshall history, but what follows in the wake of that moment is one of the most inspirational, motivational and breath-taking stories of courage I have ever seen.

It gives me goosebumps,  just to watch this clip.

(I have to add this.  This movie came out 4 days after I lost my Mom.  I saw myself and everything I was going through in everyone in this movie. (I WAS one of those characters) It was a very comforting thing to have echoed back at me a lot of the same thoughts and feelings I was going through at that moment, certain ones, I will always feel. But to see this movie was a source of great comfort, and hope to me at the darkest moment of my existence. It could be for you as well.  If not, it is just a great story of courage and strength and how pulling together, we can do so much.)

This is……….We Are Marshall”

movies #1

2.  “Invincible”

(Starring Mark Wahlberg, Greg Kinnear, Elizabeth Banks)

It’s the true story about Vince Pepale.   In 1976 Vince Pepale decided to go to an open try out for the Football team The Philadelphia Eagles. It’s a  story about what can happen when you don’t give up fighting for yourself, your dreams and your hopes. This movie gives me goosebumps.  It makes you feel and reminds you that you can do anything and give so much to others through your never giving up, than you may think.

(In writing this post I found that Vince Papale has a twitter and I follow him now.  He tweets out inspirational stuff everyday that now, I look forward to seeing his tweets everyday. Give him a follow! . It’s inspiring and uplifting to read his tweets! )

Vince Papale’s Twitter page:    https://twitter.com/83Invincible

This movie is all about persistence and determination that everyone should see!!!

This is….. “Invincible”

movies #5

(My new and possibly…. surprising pick)

#3.  “The Dark Knight Rises

(Starring Christen Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Anne Hathaway, Morgan Freeman)

I know you saying “what is she talking about, that’s about Batman!.”

Yes, it is.

But when I saw this movie which I really enjoyed,  afterwards I thought about it.  This movie is a story about strength and determination. The sequel to “The Dark Knight” this movie picks up a few years after the original left off and keeps your attention… and on you.. on the edge of your seat all the way through!.  The favourite thing about this movie though, for me, was the soundtrack. Oh my gosh. I have a few of the songs on my IPOD and I use them to workout.  They make me feel… invincible!!.

 (no pun intended )  😉

If you see it Just to hear this soundtrack, it will be worth it.

this is…. “The Dark Knight Rises”

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8evyE9TuYk

Even though it said to be the conclusion to the Batman series…

I don’t believe that.. for a second.🙂

(You’ll have to see it to understand.. )

movies #7

It’s A “Wrap”

Movies , like I said can be a great and amazing thing..  You can see one that makes you laugh, cry, or even make you mad.  I can even, like most of you, name a few that felt like 2 hrs of my life had just been wasted .

But then, there are movies that can lift you , inspire you, remind you of things like we aren’t always the only one out there who is going through a tough time or may need help along the way….

and those movies can be priceless.   Just like the ones that make you laugh can lift you higher and remind you of a few things that we all need to remember.

One being…everyone needs a helping hand from time to time and to never to give up on your dreams no matter who says what and how it MAY look at the time and to Always…..Always. listen to that inner voice.

All these movies do that. and More!.

I hope you decide to give them a try.  If you’ve seen them,

Pop some popcorn grab a chair and revisit them.movie #9

The feeling of inspiration and courage you’ll get from these movie picks above is priceless and worth it !

So are you !.

Thanks for coming to my blog!  I appreciate your support and time more than you know.

So, what did you think of my choices?   Let me know!   I’m anxious to hear if you have seen any of them, and if you did, what you thought, or if you plan on seeing them now!

Patience…Sometimes I Think It’s Being “Courageous”

PicMonkey Collage mirrors#2

Hi I'm Colleen Kelly your resident blogger. Welcome to my blog, thanks for coming by!.

Hi I’m Colleen Kelly your resident blogger. Welcome to my blog, thanks for coming by!.

I was in the car yesterday,  I was in the passenger seat.  I casually looked out the window and saw this message printed on the rear view mirror …on my door.

“Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear”

that made me smile….

I thought about that phrase

and life.

Sometimes things seem so out of your reach, or feel so far away from where you are and sometimes so much so that at times…. you might even come to believe……

they are Impossible.

The problem with that thought is……

Sometimes……..we believe it.

And then let go our goal or dream.

Why? Who said it was over ?

“Being Patient”

Oh boy .

Patience.

Now THIS.... is patience.

Now THIS…. is patience.

I was once told once by my boss I had at the time…

“Colleen, you have the patience of Job”     (pronounced job)

Job was a Person in the bible

He evidently, had a lot ….. of patience.

I’ve been thinking about that actually quite a bit lately.

Do you have a lot of patience?

“Patience to get where you’re going.”

Ever since I lost my Mom I feel I’ve had less patience with this topic..

I want to get where I’m going ….NOW

Not tomorrow , next week, next month, next year..

NOW.

“Be Patient” …….?!?!

Has anyone ever said that too you ?  Yea me too.  I was always good at it.

I’m still good at it… (sorta)

But now………… I hear tick…. tick ……tick….in the background …. while I’m

….waiting.

Ugggggghhhhh. Waiting.

I never had a problem.

Boy I do now.

When I looked in the rear view mirror and saw that message I thought to myself,

“Yea, maybe that’s true.”       What IF…. it’s all closer than we and I think.

But waiting or having that lack of patience…. to wait…

we give up.

Hey, it’s not easy sometimes by any means.  I get frustrated,  and scared just like anyone else.

482998_423937924352063_512752417_n

“Is it coming ?”  “When ?”   What if it never comes?”  “What if I wait and work for it and it  never happens ?”

All that can go through your head.

But here’s the thing.

You will have to wait at times, you will have to fight, you will have to work for it.  it’s up to you whether you continue.

Don’t give up because you never know how close you are.

I didn't think I was as close as I really was to one of my dreams.. Turned out... it was right around the corner.

I didn’t think I was as close as I really was to one of my dreams.. Turned out… it was right around the corner.

Quick example:

How many times have you looked at something and said “I never saw that coming”,

“I never thought it would happen”      Then…. it did..

I just when through that will my brother Mike and Tom.

Something I knew in my heart would happen,  but for the past 5 years as I would say,

“Just wait it will”…

They…………. have both looked at me and said over and over…

“Coll, how is that going to happen?!”

You can’t blame them, it’s hard..  I just have a little bit more of an open optimistic attitude for things.

Well,  it did happen and it left them standing there both of them looking at me with their mouths open. Hahaha.. (sorry)     I have to say it was fun to see that look of disbelief  and shock on their faces….that what I told them with patience and faith would happen

Actually……did!.

It took time, it took faith, and a lot  patienceand a lot of hard work

and more prayer……… than I can say.

But it did happen.

The best part , ( aside from reaching a goal of course )  is that it shows you,

that it works.

The whole time I wanted it NOW.     But I kept on it, lived everyday working towards even though those around couldn’t see it, believe or feel it…..

I could.    I did.

I knew.

It wasn’t exactly the way I thought it would happen,  but it did.

“The Whole Point Roundup”

The whole point it this.

Whatever it is you’re reaching for, working towards and hoping for… it can take

time…….  Patience and faith,  in you,  or possibly… a “higher being”.

For me, personally its God, for you it could be something else.

But you might need to wait.  That does not mean it won’t happen.

It means you MAY have to find  another way, or that it will take a little more time …but you keep trying and no matter if it flattens you…you get up……….

and keep trying.

With patience, hope, hard work and a little or possibly… a lot of faith…

We, you,  will reach that goal. That dream.

The only thing that can definitely stop you

is  You.

Being Around People …Is MORE Important…. Than You Think.

blog collage may14

Hi, I'm Colleen Kelly your resident blogger. Welcome to my blog!

Hi, I’m Colleen Kelly your resident blogger. Welcome to my blog!

Something the other day got me thinking..Thinking about something actually, that bothers me quite a bit …..  This is why I’m writing this post.

It’s about the importance of other people in our daily lives.

Being around other people, friends, family, and getting out is a vital part of a healthy, balanced life.

Being around other people, friends, family, and getting out is a vital part of a healthy, balanced life.

We all NEED people

When Mom passed, my Dad and I HAD…. to go to go out everyday.  We couldn’t sit there in a house, in a room that was SO full of life…..that was now….

So very silent.

So getting up and getting out of the house was something we made sure we did everyday.     We had too.

Thinking about this lately made me really realize I’ve learned a very valuable lesson about the importance of other people in our lives but I’ve learned even more about how important is to get out in the world and also, be around others on a regular basis.  I was not able to get out during the time I took care of my Mom.

Don’t get me wrong, I had my brothers and there were times, about every 6 to 8 months sometimes more,  that we would take Mom to the hospital when she needed to see a doctor….We  a nurse come to the house one or twice a week (it varied)…

but it was for all intents and purposes, living in a kind of…. bubble.

I felt I wanted to share this with you  I think there are those who may not realize and exactly understand …..how important it really is.   You see,  I didn’t see that change or feel that change in my life for what it really was and what it meant until Mom had passed and I started going out again…10 yrs. later.

I actually Googled “The importance of being among people”…. I wanted to research and see what others think on this subject as well.  You know what came up ?..

Nothing!.

That’s right.  Nothing came up for this.  That doesn’t happen that often when you Google something.

I was like “what?!”

Now I was sure……. if I re -word it something would come up then……..So I did.

Still …..nothing!.   That really surprised me.

I Didn’t Realize How Important It Really Is

You know when it rains, gets dark out and it’s just that ……really blah day?

How does it make you feel ?  I know for me, and a lot of people it can leave you feeling down, depressed….. or just blah yourself!

Well, that is what not being out and among other people can do to your spirit.  We need to be around others I feel on a daily basis as much as we can.

Hey……..  we really do.

I look back,  and I would never,  under any circumstance in this world,  change taking care of my Mom.. It was my honor to be there for her.  I had my best friend with me everyday.🙂

That being said, I still know it might have been easier to deal with the situation, to share things with people… to have others…. more people around me… on a more..

regular basis.

At first Mom didn’t need 24/7 care and I did get out …

I had the normal average lifestyle..

Later on I would say maybe two yrs later.. it was less…. Things got just too busy and Mom needed 24/7 attention that basically,  only I could really give her.  We , didn’t want to trust her care to others that were already way over worked already (Aids),  and no one knew her as I did. and there was no way I would put Mom in a facility as long as I had breath in my body and I could take care of her at home… safely.. for her.

( Again, My Dad was always there and helped with all he could which was a lot, and I have two brothers, my brothers came and went, helped out when they could and were always there when you needed anything!. )

But I was the main caregiver…… and home….. 24/7.

Getting Out Was A Trip  — (no pun intended)

When I did go out I would walk into the grocery store not having being out for a while and it was ….sensory overload for me!!!!!.

It was like a loud blur for 30 minutes or so.

It was like a loud blur for 30 minutes or so.

Little kids crying, running around, and the music, SO MANY PEOPLE!!!!.

Oh my gosh.

(I smile now to think of the “grocery store elevator music” that had me just jumpy for about 30 minutes….  Wow. )

I would walk in and have to slowly ease myself into my surroundings.

Takes time to adjust.

Takes time to adjust.

It took some time. Time to feel comfortable in those surroundings.

( I want you to understand the importance of it… and know I do as well. )

I just wouldn't want you to go through that.

I just wouldn’t want you to go through that.

I’m not a psychologist or a professional by ANY means.

But maybe, I’m better….. In a way….

I have been there and know what it can do to NOT… be around people and what It CAN DO to be around people.

It can open your world, open your life and bring you more than you ever dreamed!.

For whatever the reason may be you may not be getting out and around people right now….the fact remains …you, we,  need other people, stimulation, sights and sounds.  For your health, the health of your mind, soul.. and heart.

Open your heart ……and open world, open your life and bring you more than you ever dreamed.

The Bottom Line

Human contact is very important.  Getting out and being around others is very important.  More than you realize.  For a million reasons you might not realize right now.

It’s not normal for people OR healthy  not to see or talk to others on a regular basis…

For those not able to get out, try chatting on your computer,  invite friends over, have a friend take YOU out, or even get out and simply get your mail!!!.  I looked forward to that MANY days ..just to get out in the air!.

I do understand🙂

It ALL matters.  It would make all the difference in the world for me to just do that everyday.

Keep trying to be a part of the rest of the world.  You are!!!.

Hey, the world needs you!!!…… and you need it.!!!

Please never give up trying.  We need each other. We’re here to help each other, to be there for one another. To reach out.  Never give that up. Never give up on the best life for yourself.

Keep Reaching out.

Thank for coming by today I sure appreciate it !!!  I know everyone is So BUSY and your time is precious, when you choose to spend a few moments here it is an honor for me.   What do you think about this subject ? have you ever been in this situation ? Please leave a comment and let me know.

I really am interested how others deal with it.

Thanks!
